The festival at St Thomas's Church, in Market Street, aims to raise cash for crucial renovation work and help raise the building's profile in the community.
The church has already secured £65,000 worth of funding from English Heritage but another £20,000 is needed to pay for repairs.
Dating back to the 18th century, worshippers believe a total of £750,000 is needed to restore the church to its full glory. As well as the floral displays, there was a rare chance for visitors to climb the 127-step bell tower, and a display in the church hall about the history and the fundraising appeal.
A concert was given by the choir on Saturday and a Songs of Praise-style service was held yesterday.
Church warden Graham Gwynne said a lot of hard work had been dedicated to making the first flower festival a success.
