Council chiefs' £680k wages
Top officers at Cannock Chase District Council are costing taxpayers almost £700,000 a year in salaries.

Just 12 senior workers at the council earn a minimum of wages totalling £680,000 in a year, but could be paid as much as £800,000.
The startling cost to taxpayers emerged in the council's statement of accounts presented to councillors last night.
A separate report to a meeting of the full council also revealed thousands of pounds are being spent, tax free, to help officers move to Cannock from other areas.
The salaries of the top 12 officers include the wage of council boss Mr Stephen Brown, pictured, who now earns over £100,000.
His deputy Mr Les Trigg is now paid over £80,000, with 10 senior department managers earning between £50,000 and £59,999.
