Carnival in crisis seeks helpers
Kidderminster Carnival today faced a last-minute crisis because not enough volunteers have come forward to act as marshals to safeguard spectators and people taking part in the big parade.

Today they made an eleventh hour appeal for people to come forward to help at the event on Saturday.
Carnival vice-chairman Peter Picken said: "Marshals are an important safety factor. A number of local people have helped us over the years but they have told us they are unable to assist us this year because of other commitments.
"Marshals are very important to ensure both the safety of those on the floats and spectators and we are making a last-ditch attempt to recruit more people."
He said the event would still go ahead. Anyone wanting to offer their services as a marshal is asked to call Mr Picken on 07890 572126 as soon as possible.
