The show, in the grounds of Dudley Castle on Saturday, is the first in a series of big name concerts at the Castle Hill site.

Hundreds of people have already snapped up seats for the show in the castle's courtyard. Although time is running out there are still tickets left and organisers, Stourbridge-based, Factory 5 Promotions, want people to ensure that they get the last remaining places.

Promoter Dave Bennett said it would be a landmark event and the first in what is hoped to be an impressive line-up of stars at the castle.

"It is lining up to be a great weekend and we still have some tickets left which will be available this week."

He added: "Katherine is a wonderful singer and to hear the music in the grounds of Dudley Castle will be very atmospheric and absolutely spine-tingling to listen to."

Veteran rockers Status Quo are also due to appear at the castle on September 2 with 5,000 tickets on sale.

Fans of the band, famous for hits such as Rockin' All Over the World, have already swamped phone lines to get tickets for the big show.

Demand for places at the concert is still high. The Australian Pink Floyd show will be taking place in the castle grounds the day before on September 1.

Factory 5 are also aiming to reveal more big names later this week, with bosses from the firm in talks with agents throughout the music industry.

The Stourbridge firm is working with bosses at Dudley Castle and Zoo to turn the historic site into a live music venue to hold 7,000 people and attract big name musical acts on world tours.

Tickets for the Katherine Jenkins show are priced between £20 and £40 and are available by calling 0870 320 7000. Tickets for Status Quo are only available via the Factory 5 website and not the Midland Box Office.
