The repairs are expected to cost around £33,000 and churchgoers have joined together to set up an appeal to raise the money.

Fundraising co-ordinator Andrew Scudamore, historian Roy Peacock and parish administrator Helen Plaice are heading the campaign.

To help restore the historic church back to its former glory a gift day weekend and flower festival will be held on Saturday June 30 and Sunday July 1.
