The club supported a family fun day arranged by Hewell Grange Prison in Redditch after a former member and friend Robert Cooper asked for his help in supporting life-limited children. Robert was on the organising committee with Lee Burke at the prison, and after he contacted Rex for support, the club made its biggest single donation of £5,000. Rex said: "I think Acorns is a great charity, and we are delighted to support the children's hospice.
"This was a tremendous effort."
Robert said: "The generosity of people like this meant we raised £8,000 for life-limited children.
"One insider said he would never offend again after spending time with his family at this event. People were so committed."
Fran Winterbourn, Acorns' Three Counties community fundraising manager, said: "This family fun day was a fantastic effort by the insiders, and made a tremendous difference to the hospice.
"We were stunned to receive such an amazing donation, and were really impressed. We can't thank them enough for what they have done for our children and families."
