New plan for virtual bowling

A virtual bowling alley and laser game centre could be coming to Cannock if planners give approval. The £1 million development would be alongside Silver Blades Ice Rink.

The Pritchard Group is behind the scheme planned for Lakeside Plaza.

The virtual bowling alley is being seen as a half way house ahead of a full bowling alley coming to Cannock in the future.

The virtual alley is half the length of a normal lane which then goes onto a TV screen so you can bowl full size balls at the pins and everything is done electronically.

Alongside the new bowling alley will be a Quasar centre where people can take part in laser shooting games either as part of a team or individually.

The bowling alley is being installed by the same firm who run the children's activity centre.

This is until plans to re-develop the Avon Plaza site in the centre of Cannock come to fruition providing a full length 21-lane bowling alley plus a cinema, bingo hall and shops.

The plans are currently on hold after a dispute between Pritchard Holdings and businesses in the area who do not want to sell up.

The district council has said it would be prepared to use compulsory purchase orders in order to see the development go ahead.

Virtual bowling is big in America and has been brought into the UK by the Brunswick Corporation.
