One crew and the Land Rover from Cannock were called out to the fire, off Hednesford Road, Norton Canes, just before 2pm yesterday.
The fire involved 300 metres of grass and was well alight by the time the crews arrived. They used the Land Rover and beaters to put the fire out, which they say had been started deliberately.
Firefighters are now urging people to not smoke while out walking, and to be careful when discarding cigarettes.
People are also urged not to drop bottles – which can catch the sun and start a fire.
