The trial of a Worcestershire man accused of murdering a college student will start on May 16.

Ben Murphy, of Kyreside, Tenbury Wells, aged 20. denies murdering Adrian Palmer but admits manslaughter.

Mr Palmer, a student at Ruskin Mill College, Nailsworth, Gloucs, lived with his grandparents in Bromyard Road, Tenbury.

He was found strangled near the town Post Office in Teme Street, Tenbury, early on Saturday, May 20, last year.

Murphy was further remanded in custody by the court after a 30-minute pre-trial hearing at the crown court yesterday.

He will appear again for another pre-trial hearing on May 8.

Then there will be be legal discussion by barristers Rex Tedd QC, for the Crown, and Robert Juckes QC, defending.
