A petrol station and shop being rebuilt in Hednesford will continue to be open 24 hours a day, it has been revealed.

The former Texaco petrol station, in Uxbridge Street will have a Somerfield forecourt shop.

When planning permission was granted for the work last July, Cannock Chase District Council wanted to approve the hours fuel and food would be delivered and the opening hours of the shop before it opened.

The firm has now revealed its plans to open the shop for 24 hours a day which is the same as the previous premises.

Food deliveries will be between 5am and 7am seven days a week.

Fuel deliveries will remain the same as before and will take place between 7am and 8am seven days a week.

A report by planning officers said: "Environmental health officers have stated that the proposals should not be unduly disturbing.

"The site has previously been subject to ongoing noise complaints, although the situation has been satisfactory for several years to date."

The details will be considered by the district council's planning control committee on Wednesday.

The new development will include the shop, fuel pumps, jet wash, tank farm, storage compound and parking.
