Dog biten by Chase snake

A dog had to be treated by a vet after being bitten by an adder on Cannock Chase.

Forest ranger Jim Stewart says the snakes are at the end of the time of year when they are likely to strike.

"The hotter they get the less problem they are," he said. "When they get very hot they get out of the way."

He said there had been no other reports of dogs or people being bitten. He advised keeping dogs on leads and walkers keeping to paths.
