Over a weekend of clear skies and high temperatures, people headed for the coast – and the shops.
The British Retail Consortium said consumers spent £3.5 billion over the Easter weekend.
Temperatures in parts of the West Midlands reached just short of 20C (68F) yesterday well above the average of 10-13C (50-55F) across the country at this time of year.
Temperatures are not expected to drop below 60F (16C) all week and there will be plenty more sunshine in the coming days with sunny intervals forecast.
Roads around the region were busy, although traffic problems did not reach the level of Good Friday's great getaway.
