Doris Norman, of Littleton Road, was left with two black eyes after falling over outside the Spar store in Load Street.

The retired dinner lady was walking along a section of pavement which had been reset after highways workmen installed a new car parking bay outside the store.

Staff rushed to Mrs Norman's aid and paramedics took her to Kidderminster Hospital where she had treatment.

Mrs Norman is now calling for the county council to reset the stones immediately. Spar store boss Don Roles said several members of the public had complained to him about the the stones.

Mrs Norman said: "I just didn't see the uneven pavement and ended up on the ground in a lot of pain.

Mr Roles added: "We don't expect to pay our rates and taxes for workmanship like this."
