The trust runs more than 70 nature reserves across the West Midlands and next year celebrates four decades of working to protect such wild places. To commemorate the anniversary, the trust is launching a photographic competition aimed at capturing the beauty of these sites – with the winning images being used in a calendar and exhibition. The competition closes at the end of July 2007. In Stourbridge, the trust runs Chance Wood, Penorchard Meadows and Bishops Field Marsh. Trust marketing assistant Ros Spanton said: "The trust began as a small group of naturalists back in the 1960s and has grown steadily over the years thanks to the support of many volunteers and members."
