Murder plea over husband
The estranged husband of a murdered grandmother is now being treated as a murder suspect.
Police today said they now suspect Jim Ingram of killing his wife, Diane, by stabbing her in the neck.
She died at her flat in Avon Road, Cannock, on Tuesday March 13.
All UK police forces, ports and airports have been put on alert in a bid to apprehend the 62-year-old who vanished after his wife was found dead.
In a move to try and find him, he will feature on the Wanted Faces section of BBC's Crimewatch tonight.
Detective Inspector Ronnie Walker said: "We strongly believe Jim Ingram could assist us with our investigation into his wife's death and urgently need to find him. Extensive efforts to trace him locally have so far proved fruitless, which suggests he may have travelled further a field.
"Tonight's Crimewatch appeal could provide us with crucial information as to his whereabouts. Anyone who comes across Mr Ingram should not approach him, but contact police immediately." Crimewatch is broadcast at 9pm on BBC1.
Mr Ingram was last seen on a bus in Walsall Road, Cannock, at about 3.20pm on the afternoon Diane died.
The bus, believed to be the 870, was a single-decker travelling towards Wolverhampton.
Mr Ingram is white, about 5ft 7ins tall and of medium build.
He walks with a distinctive stoop. Police want to speak to people who saw him or Diane on the afternoon of the murder. They can call 01785 218600 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
