A 19-year-old Rugeley mother murdered at her flat this week was pregnant, it has emerged.
Kristie Johnson, daughter of Brereton Parish Council chairman Peter Johnson, also had a three-year-old daughter who is now being cared for by Kristie's parents.
Kristie's boyfriend Alec Roy Goode, aged 24, of Coulthwaite Way, Rugeley, appeared at Cannock Magistrates Court today after being charged with murder by detectives last night.
Goode spoke only to confirm his name and address, watched by around 30 members of his and Kristie's families and friends.
He was remanded in custody by chairman of the bench Chris Jackson, who committed the case to Stafford Crown Court, where Goode will appear on Wednesday.
Kristie, a former Fair Oak Business and Enterprise College pupil, was found dead at her flat in Armitage Road during the early hours of Thursday morning.
A post mortem examination carried out by a Home Office pathologist revealed she died from multiple stab wounds.
Speaking outside court today, her father, Councillor Peter Johnson, said: "Kristie was a normal teenager. She was no angel but she gave us 19 years of love.
"All the Johnson family and friends want to see this country's true justice done for her and her three-year-old daughter, Taylor-Brook.
"My girl has been taken away in a cruel and violent way and we want things done right for her now.
"As a family we want to go forward from this for the sake of Taylor-Brook.
"We would like to praise the professionalism of the police and thank all our friends and Kristie's friends."
