Police believe the same people might be responsible for many of the raids on homes.

Officers have stepped up patrols following 14 burglaries in the Aggborough and Spennells areas of the town since the middle of February.

Ten of the burglaries happened this month. Most have taken place in the afternoon or early evening and the latest was on March 21.

Officers with West Mercia Police have now begun extra patrols of the area as part of an operation, codenamed Jay.

Among items stolen in the burglaries were five laptop computers, small electrical goods such as Playstations, and jewellery.

Two youths have been seen in the vicinity of some of the break-ins and police today warned householders to "be vigilant and report any suspicious activity".

Inspector Paul Crowley said: "As part of our operation we have delivered leaflets giving crime prevention advice to householders and we have also increased high visibility patrols in the areas where these burglaries have taken place.

"We would ask people to be take extra care over their home security, look out for their neighbours and report anything unusual or suspicious to us immediately on 08457 444888. We would also like to hear from anyone who is offered electrical goods or jewellery."

Anyone with information but who wishes to remain anonymous is asked to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
