This weekend will see the 18th century come to Lichfield as re-enactment group Lace Wars invites visitors to enjoy attractions at the museum, The Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum, Erasmus Darwin House and in Cathedral Close.
"Most residents of Lichfield cannot help but be aware of the importance of Lichfield in the 18th century," said museum curator Erik Blakeley.
"What many do not realise is the important part played by Lichfield in the last land war on British soil – the 1745 Jacobite Rebellion."
It is this that people will be able to uncover at the weekend, as troops gathered in Lichfield all those years ago.
Mr Blakeley said the military part of the weekend would be hosted at the museum with living history encampments, drill displays and a battle each day at 2pm.
The civilian element will be based on the Johnson Museum and Erasmus Darwin House with activities currently being planned.
On June 17 the museum hosts Classic Cars, a concourse with the Austin Healey club. Other events will be staged through the summer and autumn. More details: 01543 434395.
