Dudley Council's recycling service is continuing to grow, and this year's roll-out will take households with a green bin to 100,000.
It follows the introduction of the scheme last year. All homes are set to have a bin by the end of the three-year rolling programme. Residents will receive flyers from April to inform them when their green bin will be delivered. Deliveries are expected to run from May through to July.
Residents will also receive calendars for when the fortnightly collections will take place.
Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for the environment, said the new batch of bins would be distributed to selected streets across the whole of the borough.
"This isn't being done by area or ward but it is an expansion of the waste collection routes meaning they will be delivered across the borough. The green waste recycling scheme has been a big success and last year 15,000 tonnes of green waste was recycled.
"This was 50 per cent up on the year before the introduction of the scheme.
"I'm sure the 50,000 households to receive a bin this year will also make the most of the scheme.
"Many people have asked for this service and I am delighted it is going from strength to strength.
"Meanwhile, loose waste green collections will continue for residents who are not yet on the list to receive a wheelie bin."
Waste accepted in the bins includes weeds, hedge and grass clippings, cut flowers, twigs and small branches, leaves and shrubs and spent compost. But kitchen and food waste, plastic bags, plant pots, soil, stone, rubble, tree trunks, fencing, wood waste, animal waste and other general rubbish will not be accepted.
The collections, carried out fortnightly, will only be done if the bins are left out by 7.30am on the day of collection with the lid down and handles facing out towards the pavement. The bin should be left at the edge of the property.
