An appeal to help bring joy to the life of a sick dog was made today by members of Kidderminster and District branch of the RSPCA.

Jade, a Rottweiler, was taken into the branch's care in February as she was no longer wanted by her previous owners.

She has been found a new home in Kidderminster but has a serious health problem which needs treatment.

Four-year-old Jade was born with a abdominal problems and needs an operation.

She is expected to make a full recovery, living a normal life, but the cost of the specialist operation is expensive and the branch is appealing for help from the public to raise the money required.

Peter Allen, Chairman of the Kidderminster and District Branch of the RSPCA, said: "The operation on Jade will be carried out at Bristol University Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

"The cost of this complex operation is at least £2,500 yet the hospital has very generously agreed to carry out the operation at the reduced cost of £1,000.

"We are appealing to the public to help us raise the money required for Jade's operation.

"As a branch all of the money we raise is spent locally and we hope that people in the area will be happy to contribute to the costs of Jade's much-needed operation."

He added: "Any donations will be most gratefully received and will ensure that Jade gets the chance to live a normal, happy life in the future."

Anyone wanting to make a donation can call Peter Allen on 01384 877 895.
