A popular Saturday outdoor market could be reintroduced to Kidderminster following the success of a weekday event.
The move is being backed by Town Centre Partnership chairman Mr Peter Picken with the condition that it does not conflict with other events that form part of the town's social calendar.
Officials with Wyre Forest District Council say they are "delighted with the success of a Thursday market" operated by LSD Promotions.
Now they plan to hold discussions with members of the Town Centre Partnership at their annual meeting on March 14 to see if there is real potential to extend the market to a Saturday as well as the traditional Thursday slot.Mr Picken, Partnership chairman, said: "The Thursday Market was set up to replace the indoor market which closed about three years ago.
"We are very pleased that it has been possible to bring this into the town centre and it appears to be adding to the interest for shoppers.
"It has always been a possibility that this might be increased to include a Saturday market as well.
"We would like to see this happen providing there are safeguards covering other activities that take place in the town at weekends such as the Carnival and other street events including the French and Continental Markets."
Mr Keith Burgess, operating services manager with Wyre Forest District Council, said: "When we let the management of the market to LSD Promotions it was always envisaged that after the initial six months we would look at the potential of extending the market to a Saturday."
