Ticket lines opened at 9am today for thousands of fans to get their hands on the 4,500 tickets available for what will be only the third ever large-scale concert to take place at the beauty spot.
By 10am, the ticket line was still jammed with a recorded message telling people all lines were busy and to call back.James Delanoy, spokesman for Forestry Commission England, said: "I don't have any figures yet but the phone lines have been engaged all morning which is a really good sign."
The Feeling will perform at Birches Valley on June 22. The Forestry Commission has a licence that allows concerts to be staged on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday and details of other bands lined up are expected in the next few weeks.
Cumulative airplay of The Feeling's four singles last year secured them the title of the most played band in the UK in 2006.
Cannock Chase hosted its first outdoor open concerts last summer with performances from UB40 and Embrace which attracted a total of 8,500 people. The controversial gigs, objected to by residents of nearby Slitting Mill, only broke even because of costly excavation work.
Tickets cost £24 and the number for the ticket hotline is 01842 814612. They are also available on-line at www.ticketmaster.co.uk or www.gigsandtours.com
