A major expansion plan for a retreat and conference centre near Stone is set to be announced later this month
Shallowford House, the Lichfield diocesan retreat and conference centre, has completed a redevelopment plans which will include the creation of new residential accommodation, a new chapel and new meeting facilities.
Shallowford House is set in over a three acre garden in the Staffordshire countryside just outside Stone.
It was given to the Diocese of Lichfield in 1938 and is used to hold residential conferences or other meetings and can accommodate up to 40 people residentially in single and twin bedrooms.
Open Events are held the venue is also available for training events.
The popular centre is used by parish groups, clergy training, lay training, conferences, committee meetings, diocesan groups and currently offers lounge seating for 40, a library for 20 a large meeting room seating 20 and two smaller rooms seating ten each.
The John Cox Suite provides a meeting room for approximately 20 people together with two smaller break-up rooms and kitchen area and there is also a conservatory and summer house, a chapel, and a dining room seating up to 50.
Full board accommodation is available and special diets catered for and there is a kitchen for use by guests to make hot drinks and a cellar bar, bookstall, shop, third world crafts and TVs,videos, flip chart stands and over-head projectors available. The diocese is remaining tight-lipped about the details of the expansion plans and will be releasing full detail of the designs on February 21.
