City's £17m hospital opens
A new era of healthcare for the people of Lichfield and Burntwood was launched today as the city's £17m hospital opened its doors.

Renal patients were the first to benefit from the new facilities at the Samuel Johnson Community Hospital, off Trent Valley Road, with the remaining departments all being phased in this week.
Building work at The Samuel Johnson Hospital in Lichfield began in April 2005, and it was handed over to South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust last October.
Hospital visitors this week have been handed an added bonus, as there will be no car parking charges until the signs arrive.
The hospital's new phone number is 01543 412900. Staff and services at the Victoria and Hammerwich Hospitals, are being phased into the new facility. From tomorrow, clinics at the outpatient department start, with the minor injuries providing a full service from 5pm.
All x-ray and maternity service take place at the Samuel Johnson from Wednesday.
