Raiders have ruined Christmas for a Burntwood family after stealing £2,650 worth of presents, along with cash and other expensive household items.

The culprits broke into the house in Woodford Crescent by forcing a lower panel from a side door - causing £500 damage - between 1pm last Friday and 8.40pm on Saturday.

Once inside the burglars made an untidy search of the living room, and two bedrooms, and made off with several thousand pounds worth of goods.

They stole a £900 Sony 32in television, a £45 DVD player and a £1,700 Technics 900 black hi-fi.

The thieves also stole 59 CDs valued at £750; 75 DVDs worth £600, a collection of watches valued at £1,940 and various ornaments, crystals and gems worth £150.

After snatching £1,760 in cash the raiders made a start on presents from under the family Christmas tree, making off with a haul of £2,650.

The items included a £600 Nintendo; £850 Azus VC keyboard mouse; £200 Sony DSC digital camera and a £230 Sony MP3 player.

They also stole an £80 external hard drive; £70 portable television; £80 Robosapien remote controlled toy and two PlayStations worth £120.
