A 16-year-old student from Dudley has been found hanged at home.

Dean Shaw from Dixons Green Road was discovered dead on Monday. He lived alone at the council-run block of flats for young people but a support worker was based on the site.

The teenager was a student at King Edward VI College in Stourbridge.

He was also a former pupil of The Wordsley School, Brierley Hill Road and today headteacher Mike Lambert paid tribute to him.

"Dean was a talented young man and an exceptional artist," he said.

"He had worked hard to achieve his place at King Edwards VI College and had settled in well.

"His death is a great tragedy. Our thoughts are with his entire family."

The teenager's mother is thought to live in the Brierley Hill area.

An inquest was opened at Walsall Coroner's Court yesterday and adjourned for further inquiries.
