The furious father of a pub landlady attacked by a knife-wielding robber has described his daughter's assailant as gutless and urged the public to help catch the crook.

Keith Feathers hit out at the man responsible for threatening his daughter Karen at the Talbot pub in Hednesford Road, Cannock, on Wednesday morning.

Karen, aged 26, was alone at around 10.15am when the man forced his way in after she answered the door.

Her attacker, described as 5ft 11ins, then threatened her with a knife and held it in front of her as he forced her to open the safe. He gave her a bag and ordered her to put money in it before pushing her out of the way and leaving.

It's believed thousands of pounds was taken.

Karen's father said: "She's suffering from shock, which is understandable.

"I feel very angry towards the people who have done this - they are gutless. It's not a very brave thing to do, attacking a woman with a knife. I'm relieved all they got away with was money, it could have been a lot worse."

Keith urged anyone with information to call DC Julie Ferrie at Cannock CID on 01785 234941 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
