Police found 570 pictures and pornographic films when they raided Dwayne Gabriel's home and seized his computer following a tip-off from European police, Wolverhampton Magistrates Court was told.

Gabriel, aged 21, of Ryhope Walk, Pendeford, had downloaded the vile images from the internet and offered them to other web users.

Mr Roger Blezzard, prosecuting, told the court yesterday how officers swooped after authorities in Spain monitoring the trail on the web told them Gabriel could be involved in child pornography.

Police raided his home and found computer files full of pictures and films.

Mr Blezzard said Gabriel's crime was made worse by the fact he had kept the files and then created his own distribution site.

He said he had trawled the internet to find illegal pictures.

"It isn't a case of stumbling across these and downloading them - he stored them in folders for easy access," said Mr Blezzard.

"Once he had accessed these images he created his own distribution site. He was placing them in a shop window for distribution."

Mr Blezzard said the images were at level one and two - the lower end of the five-level scale used to assess the severity of images.

Gabriel admitted 11 charges of making indecent images and seven counts of distributing them. Magistrate Mrs Ann Morgan told him that prison was inevitable.

She adjourned the case until next month for a pre-sentence report and to allow the bench to further consider the type of images involved.

Mrs Morgan said Gabriel's perversion was aggravated by the fact that he scoured the web on numerous occasions, stored the pictures in folders and set up the distribution site.

She said: "We believe you committed these offences intentionally."

Gabriel was bailed until November 14.
