Kevin aiming for pool glory
Pool star Kevin Uzzell will battle legends like Steve Davis when he bids to win the World Championships in the Philippines. Kevin, from Albrighton near Wolverhampton, is jetting off to Manila at the end of the month to compete in the $400,000 tournament.
The 40-year-old professional pool player practices at Wombourne Pool Bar, in Maypole Street, and Dudley Snooker and Pool Club.
He is one of six British stars who have qualified for the 128-competitor World Championships.
The sport is massive in the Far East and thousands gather to watch top stars like Mr Davis and Tony Drago.
"In Asia pool is like football in the UK. It's that big," said Mr Uzzell. "It's lovely to be able to compete with the best players in the world."
Mr Uzzell, who is competing in the event for the fourth successive year, said he was hoping to net a chunk of the $400,000 prize pot. The event starts on November 4.
"I'm looking forward to going and hopefully I can go better than the last 32. I have done better in each of my four years," he said.
