Geoffrey Robert Colwell, 80, was killed when his 100cc scooter was involved in a crash with two cars on the A46 at Evesham.

Mr Colwell, a widower of Kingswinford, was making the most of the warm weather to indulge in his passion for visiting country towns and markets when the tragedy happened.

His red Peugeot Speedflight scooter was in a collision with a silver Peugeot 307 estate car, which was towing a caravan, and a white Ford Fiesta.

No-one else was injured in the crash on Tuesday. A man was arrested on suspicion of causing the pensioner's death by dangerous driving.

Family and friends today spoke of their sadness at the death of the retired Longbridge engineer who would "do anything for anybody".

His daughter Anita Hughes said her father would be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Close friend Dora Dunn said: "I only saw him yesterday morning before he set out on his scooter and he told me it would be his last ride before the winter."

Mr Colwell's funeral is at Gornal Wood Crematorium on October 9 at 12pm. Popular stories:
