Embarrassed at her roly poly size 24 frame, Midland woman Sarah Candlin used to sneak in at the back of her slimming club meetings.

But 12 months on, the 24-year-old has nothing to hide from after shedding a massive five-and-a-half stone.

Sarah, from Stone in Staffordshire, was left depressed when she ballooned in weight during her pregnancy three years ago to 16st 5lb.

She said: "My daughter is now two, and although I had tried to diet myself at home using magazines, it hadn't really worked.

"There was no incident in particular that made me decide to lose the weight, I just got to point where I was over 16 stone and thought enough is enough, and decided to go to to Weight Watchers."

Since making that decision she hasn't looked back and now weighs in at a slimline 10st 8lb.

She said: "I wasn't on the points system, but the No Count plan - which is about making the right choices and eating healthy foods that fill you up.

"My husband has been tremendously supportive and the whole family is eating more healthily now.

Lynda Gibson, who runs the Weight Watchers course said that she has seen a huge change in Sarah's personality.

She said: "Sarah used to just slip into the meetings at the back, but she is so confident now and a real inspiration to the others in the class. We are all really proud of her."

Lynda runs two weight watchers classes in Stafford. One at Baswich Church Hall at 5.45pm each Wednesday and one at Stafford County Officers Club on Eastgate Street at 9.45am every Tuesday morning.
