  1. Drink and eat what you want. Canapés, mince pies, mulled wine. Who cares? It’s Christmas, the diet starts in January.

  2. Shopping for the perfect party frock. Oh, and new shoes, bag and jewellery to match too, of course.

  3. Getting glammed up. The perfect excuse for a day of pampering, getting your hair done and spending time on fancy make-up.

  4. Creating a magical winter wonderland in your home if you’re hosting a party. Twinkling fairy lights, glittery table decorations, festive scented candles, it looks enchanting.

  5. Meeting up with people you’ve not seen for ages. Plenty of gossiping and catching up to be done.

  6. Everybody is in a good mood and feeling extra friendly and charitable.

  7. Grab that person you’ve had your eye on and have a smooch under the mistletoe.

  8. Karaoke. Enthusiastic singing of all the golden oldie Christmas tunes and no one will mind.

  9. You’ve drunk too much and feel rubbish but it’s a great excuse for a duvet day. Snoozing, snuggling and watching DVDs.

  10. Picking the perfect presents for friends and family.

  11. Wrapping all your gifts on a cold wintry day with Christmas music playing and lots of hot chocolate.

  12. The office Christmas party. The chance to see all those normally quite reserved staff go wild and let their hair down.

  13. Don’t be down when Christmas is over – there’s still New Year’s Eve.
