Album: The Naked & Famous, Passive Me, Aggressive You, out Monday
There's nothing shiny, glossy or manufactured about The Naked & Famous. The band's sound is raw, noisy and has a carefree edge.
After only two years in the music spotlight, their debut album Passive Me, Aggresive You is full of songs with a heavy 80s and early 90s feel to them.
The New Zealand five-piece produce tracks which are totally infectious.
The opening track, All of This, is a real toe-tapper and the soft breathy vocals interlaced with a fast beat keep the band's hard edge.
One song which has found favour on British radio waves is Young Blood. It has a strong back beat and with the pop-synthy voice of Alisa Xayalith gives the band a truly unique sound.
The beautiful lyrics make it sound almost dreamy in places.
Another hit, Punching In A Dream is a mix of electro rock with a forceful melody.
It's very jaunty, dancey and could easily be a top festival tune.
The final track on the album Girls Like you is an uplifting end to what will become an iPod staple for the summer.
