During the Second World War, the airport was home to No. 3 Air Observer and Navigator, operating aircraft such as the Blackburn Botha and later the Avro Anson.

The Spitfire experiences, which will take place on June 27, will see give-it-a-go aviators sit through a safety briefing before taking to the skies of Wolverhampton, given a stunning view of the region's rolling hills and sprawling canal networks, all from the cockpit of the historic plane.

And during the flight, participants will also be given the opportunity to take the controls of the aircraft under the guidance of one of the team's qualified pilots.

Upon landing safely back on solid ground at Halfpenny Green Airport, aviators will also be handed a complimentary gift, including the Spitfire's pilot's notes, an aircrew patch, a car sticker, a signed certificate, and two in-flight cockpit videos.

A spokesperson said: "Step back in time and experience the pride of British aviation heritage.

"The Supermarine Spitfire is more than just an aircraft - it's a symbol of courage, craftsmanship, and victory."

With only one date available, the team at FlyaSpitfire have strongly recommended booking early, with tickets available via the company's website
