Scaffolding is in place at the Old Stags Head in Penn, marking the next step in plans to revive the pub on Church Hill, which has been closed since October 2018 due to a decline in trade.

An application by Integrated Designs and Associates to renovate the building and preserve it as a pub with a new layout that includes a bigger restaurant was approved by Wolverhampton Council's planning department at the start of July.

The frontage has been completely covered by scaffolding, with a number of skips and rubbish bags outside on the adjacent car park.

Inside, work has begun to extend and renovate the dilapidated building, with Integrated Designs and Associates working to remove two chimneys, build an extension to the rear, and create a new side entrance to the 191-year-old building.
