The Hednesford author who opened her own bookshop and realised a childhood dream

As a young girl, Kim Nash only ever had three dreams: to become an author, to work in book publishing and to own a bookshop.

After starting her career as book blogger she spent 13 years in the publishing industry, and on April 1 she will celebrate the publication of her 12th novel.

But buying a bookshop was never seriously on the agenda - until last year when an opportunity too good to turn down came up.

She’s now the proud owner of Fiction and Fairy Lights in Hednesford, which opened its doors just two weeks ago.

“I was a regular visitor to Press Books and Coffee and I used to run author events for Nancy [Fardon, the shop's owner]," explains Kim.

“In June, I decided I was going to give up my job to concentrate on my writing.

“I had said to Nancy to let me know if she was ever going to sell the shop and I was there on a volunteer day from work when she told me she was thinking of selling.

“I had decided to leave my job and had handed in my notice when this opportunity came about.

“It was a bit of a surprise that it all happened at the same time. It magically fell into place."
