Lichfield Council said it was delighted to confirm that the Lichfield Food & Drink Festival would take place on the August Bank Holiday weekend between August 23 and 25 August.

The event will feature around 100 stalls located throughout Lichfield’s historic city centre, offering everything from artisan produce and street food to sweet treats and handcrafted drinks.

The festival is being delivered by Lichfield Council with partners Lichfield City Council, Three Spires Shopping Centre, Lichfield Cathedral, The Hub at St Mary’s and Lichfield Chamber of Trade and Commerce, working collaboratively to ensure the city is buzzing with activity and community spirit over the long weekend.

It had looked in doubt after the council rejected Cocker Hoop Creative Limited’s application to hold the festival, following news that Cocker Hoop Creative Limited had cancelled the Yorkshire Dales Food Festival less than 14 days before the event.

However, the festival is now able to run thanks to the collaboration between local businesses and community organisations, with Lichfield Council leader Councillor Doug Pullen saying that he was delighted to be able to announce that the festival would be running.

He said: "We’re delighted to welcome visitors to Lichfield for this year’s Food & Drink Festival.

"It’s fantastic to see the event going ahead thanks to strong local collaboration, even at short notice.

"While this summer’s festival will be slightly smaller than previous years, we’re confident it will still offer a safe, high-quality experience that showcases the best of our city.”

The Lichfield Food & Drink Festival will feature a wide variety of food and drink choices in the heart of the city, as well as live demonstrations and seating areas, and promises a vibrant, safe and family-friendly experience for all.

The organisers are also encouraging local high street businesses to get involved with special offers across the weekend to ensure the whole city benefits from increased footfall and visitor engagement.

More information, including a full list of traders and activities, will be announced in the coming weeks and will be available online at the Visit Lichfield website.
