The Manchester-based guitar band played tracks from their new album Arc, as well as treating fans to old favourites from the 2011 Mercury Prize nominated Man Alive.

After opening with a couple of slow ones they got the crowd going with third song and recent single Kemosabe, possibly their finest moment to date, which encapsulates their synth-based indie sound.

Older songs like Final Form got fans dancing, with other highlights including Suffragette Suffragette.

The band had earlier played a morning live set for BBC radio 6 Music but lead singer Jonathan Higgs said the band would ensure they "gave their all" for their Birmingham fans.

He thanked the Institute crowd for making the show a sellout.

The songs which got the loudest response from the audience included lively versions of Photoshop Handsome and Cough Cough.

The band returned for a four song encore, starting with MY KZ UR BF.

They sent the audience home happy by finishing with Don't Try.
