It's Friday afternoon. What's on your mind?
Most likely, I have no idea it's Friday afternoon. My world revolves around music and the internet (neither of which sleep), and as a result of that the lines between day/night, weekday/weekend, etc, have begun to disappear in my mind.
I never know which day of the week it is, but I'm alright with that – luckily, I love doing my job.
Who normally has the pleasure of your company at the weekend?
My Twitter followers. Is that bad?
I do try to see other human beings in the real world from time to time. I have movie nights with my LA friends or if I'm lucky, my sisters are down and I get to spend some time with them.
How do you prepare for a big night out?
I'm not much of a big night out type of person. My ideal night would be something like, go get sushi, come home, get cozy, make some tea, play music by the fire.
I suppose the closest thing to a 'big night out' I have is when I play shows. I prepare for those by reminding myself how incredibly lucky I am to be able to share my music with people around the world.
What's your favourite party outfit?
Oops. See above! Again, not much of a party goer, but if I were to go to a party, I would probably wear something that was comfortable and made me feel good; probably a shirt, high-waisted skirt, cardigan, flats. I would probably be the least exciting looking person there.
You've just arrived at the bar. What's your first drink?
Does this bar serve tea? If not, I'll take some hot chocolate . . . with whipped cream.
What is your favourite nightspot and why?
One thing I do enjoy doing at night other than being a hermit in my house is going on walks. At the end of a crazy day that really helps me re-prioritise and put things into perspective. I like how much quieter everything is at night.
What tune always gets you on the dancefloor?
So, this interview is making me out to be the lamest person alive . . . ha ha!
For some reason, I am basically incapable of dancing in public (aside from swing dancing, which I love). The weird thing is, I actually LOVE dancing. So sometimes I have solo dance parties in the comfort of my own bedroom – a personal favourite to dance to is Call Your Girlfriend by Robyn.
It's a sunny Saturday. What are you up to?
Probably kicking it off with a jog around Los Angeles (I'm training for a half marathon with Run Team Kina); then some emailing, Tweeting and Facebooking.
Perhaps I'll meet some friends for lunch. Maybe do some tidying around the house, my place is in a constant state of disarray, so even "some tidying" doesn't really make a difference. Then back to work!
What's your most memorable weekend ever and why?
My favourite weekends are the ones where I remember it's the weekend and force myself to take a little break.
I recently spent a weekend hiking with my dad, which was definitely one of the more memorable ones I've had in a while. Spending time in nature with people I love is about as good as it gets.
What's the recipe for a perfect night in?
Hmmm . . . Indian food, movie, hot chocolate (or ice cream), good company, music . . .
Favourite DVD? And what would you eat while watching it?
I'm currently hooked on Friday Night Lights. As for food . . . anything that tastes good! I'm not very particular when it comes to food, I like it all.
Sunday breakfast – cooked or continental?
Cooked! I like eggs in the morning – scrambled, poached, sunny-side up Pair that with some wheat toast and I'm good to go. I'll take a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice, too, while we're at it.
Sunday lunch – home cooked or down the pub?
More often than not, my Sunday lunch is also my Sunday breakfast. I should really work on that.
When and how do you like to relax?
I will take the chance to relax whenever the opportunity presents itself! A cup of tea or a walk with some good music in my ears is probably the most relaxing thing for me.
You've got a whole weekend off and a wad of money in your back pocket – which country or city would you head to?
How big is this wad of money? There are about a million and one places I'd love to travel to but at this very moment, I think I'd try to take my family to Hawaii and force us all to have some down time.
Growing up, Hawaii was our family vacation spot, so it holds a special place in our hearts. Plus, it's Hawaii!
