Rapper Plan B will be perfoming at Cannock Chase next summer and Forest Commission bosses say the concert will bring a "a whole new audience" to the region.

The Stay Too Long and Prayin' singer-songwriter will perform in the Birches Valley forest setting on June 29. Tickets for the gig go on sale this Friday.

This year's summer performances featuring 1980s pop-synth legends Erasure and Scottish rock royalty Simple Minds sold 97.5 per cent of the full ticket allocation.

Paddy Harrop, head of recreation for the Forestry Commission England, said he expected next year's concert to be a sell-out.

"Erasure and Simple Minds are undoubtedly classic British acts but Plan B will bring a whole new audience to the forest," he said.

"We've been working very hard on getting him and we're delighted to have succeeded.

"He's absolutely fantastic, a really new and exciting artist, and someone very different to the acts we've had before.

"He will attract a much younger crowd, which will be good for the Chase."

Tickets, priced £32, go on sale from 9am on Friday. For details, call 03000 680400 or you can buy online at forestry.gov.uk/music
