George Michael cancels Birmingham shows

George Michael has cancelled two shows in Birmingham after it was revealed he is battling a "severe" form of pneumonia.

The singer's current tour has been abandoned, including the dates at the LG Arena on December 9 and 10.

The 48-year-old star is being treated in hospital after being forced to pull out of a concert in Vienna two hours before he was due on stage.

A statement from the former Wham singer's publicist last night stressed that he has pneumonia and said any other speculation regarding his illness was 'unfounded and untrue'.

It added Michael had been told by doctors he could not continue with his Symphonica tour.
