They only started jamming just over a year ago but Wolverhampton Indie band The Town have already achieved two of their ambitions - supported one of their musical idols and releasing their debut EP.

The mod-inspired three-piece have completed work on the first record called Keep the Faith, which they will showcase at The Slade Rooms on Saturday.

And band mates Tom Stanforth, Jack Fletcher and Clayton Cross are still feeling star-struck after opening for former The Jam bass player Bruce Foxton in April this year.

Keen to build on a stellar year so far, the band are already confident of selling out the Slade Rooms.

They will then turn their attentions to the rest of the UK in a bid to build a national reputation.

Drummer John, aged 18, said: "We have played the Slade Rooms before as well as The Robin 2 as well as The Flapper and Firkin and The Vic in Birmingham.

"But this gig will have more significance because our EP is out and we are trying to get our music out to as many people as possible.

"We nearly sold The Slade Rooms out last time so we shouldn't have a problem selling it out this time."

The band count among their biggest influences The Jam, The Who and The Beatles as well as the Arctic Monkeys and The Rifles.

Having already met one of the musical heroes this year the band will head back out on the road with a handful of gigs in London before Christmas.

Tickets to see The Town cost £5 per person and can be bought from Midland Box Office by calling 0870 3207000 or logging onto www.wolvescivic.co.uk
