Tiny little-known village packed with history that's perfect for stunning West Midlands walks

Lapworth is a quaint village known for its historical charm and picturesque National Trust sites.

Between Birmingham and Warwick lies a miniscule village which has captured the hearts and minds of a select few who are in the know about its hidden beauty. 

Yet, Lapworth still feels very much connected to its nearby major cities and towns, making it a great commuter destination without the loud buzz of other people. 

A village so tiny that only boasts a population of just under 2,000 people, and is only 27 miles away from Wolverhampton. 

Despite, only a small amount of permanent residents in this town, many across the region admire the real underrated charm of Lapworth.

What can you do in Lapworth? 

The village features historic churches, one such place is the Grade I listed structure called the Church of St Mary the Virgin, which on its website says that visitors are 'warmly welcomed'. Here, you can appreciate the church's history as it dates back to the early 12th century.

Like any fabulous village, it is often marked by its National Trust sites, and two destinations that has captured the minds of visitors and they are Packwood House and Baddesley Clinton. Packwood House was originally built in the 16th century, and is best known for being created in a mixture of a Tudor and Jacobean design.

According to the National Trust, the house has a ‘fine collection of 16th-century textiles and furniture, and the gardens have renowned herbaceous borders and a famous collection of yews.’ 

Similarly, Baddesley Clinton, while technically outside the village, it is only 6 minutes away. This is a historic manor house, known for its 500 year history, and the property. These National Trust sites offer fabulous places to peruse and enjoy a day out enjoying the English countryside. 

For walkers, there’s an 1.1 mile walk called the Packwood Welly Walk around Packwood House, and is regarded as an 'easy' by National Trust and the walking trail should take between 30 mins - 1 hour. The full address is Packwood House, Packwood Lane, Lapworth, B94 6AT. 

As well as this, there’s an 11 mile circuit around the south Warwickshire village is a popular walking route that passes through these country homes.
