'I started selling kids' clothes on TikTok while on maternity leave and now have my own boutique in Wolverhampton named after my children'
While on maternity leave with her second child Steph Gamston, from Wolverhampton, started selling children’s clothing on TikTok.
“I went to a summer fair where there was a pop-up shop selling baby clothes and I thought I could do this.
“I started online from my son’s nursery with two rails of clothes and a very, very small amount of money,” she explains.
The business grew and in November 2024, after spotting the ideal premises, Steph left her job as a primary school teacher and opened her own boutique, Daisy & Ted’s, in Finchfield, Wolverhampton.
“I loved being a teacher and I do miss it but I wanted to have more flexibility.
“It had taken a long time to get pregnant with Ted and I wanted to be able to spend more time with my family,” says Steph.
“I started the business and opened the shop with a shoestring budget.
“My husband, Dec, painted the shop and my brother-in-law Michael made some of the furniture.
“Every customer says how beautiful the shop is,” she adds.

Named after her two children, Daisy, aged 11, and Teddy, two, the boutique offers a curated collection of baby and children’s clothing, from birth to six-years-old, as well as soft toys.
“I stock a lot of Spanish and Portuguese brands and also high-end British brands like Sarah Louise.
“I love smocked items so I sell a lot of smocked dresses.
