We visited a Stafford micropub which is bringing life, fun and a good cask ale to the town centre
It's a pub which mixes the hoppy, bitter and varied tastes of cask ale with the acidity and texture of wine to create a unique and very welcoming place to drink and which fits the philosophy of the owners.
The way a pub looks and feels can define how people feel when they walk through the doors for the first time.
It can come down to how modern the pub is, the feel of the chairs and bar, whether there are nice artworks on the wall, how many hand pull ales are available and just the general ambience and atmosphere of the pub.
The personality of the pub can sometimes come down to who owns it, which makes the Pickled Pig, at the Bank House in Stafford a must-see place to go due to the passion and personality of the owners imprinted all over it.

The Pickled Pig opened in April 2025 on the site of the former Bank House Cafe Bar on Salter Street in Stafford town centre after Scott and Sara Morgan decided to take the plunge and run the sort of pub Mr Morgan said they would want to drink in.
He said: "The wife works in the pub trade for a big company, so we know the industry inside out, and I've dabbled before as I have a real passion for cask ale, so I think it was a combination of when we've gone out together and gone to pubs.
"We've found pubs that do very good cask ale, but not particularly good wine, or a bar that has nice wine, but you can't get cask ale in it, so we've just created our own as there seems to be that niche in the market.
