Shaun Hughes opened Bakersbrew Cafe on Trysull Road in the Bradmore area of Wolverhampton at the end of November, having spent six weeks clearing out and refitting the shop from its previous life as a Boots Chemist.

The 33-year-old said he had always wanted to run his own cafe, having trained as a chef and baker, and spoke about how the cafe had come about and his vision for the cafe.

He said: "I've always been a baker and a chef since a young age and have made my own cakes since I was nine, then have done birthday and wedding cakes and trained to get a level two diploma in professional cookery, so I always wanted to set my own place up and then, with my interest in coffee, it just all intertwined together.

"I also thought that this was something that was needed in the area and we found this place, which used to be a Boots Chemist and so, over the course of six weeks, I stripped it out down to bare brick and rebuilt everything."
