Restaurants and takeaways from across the Black Country and Staffordshire have been named as semi-finalists for a national Turkish food award.

Three restaurants and a takeaway from Cannock, Smethwick, Stourbridge and Wolverhampton have reached the shortlist for the third Turta Turkish Restaurant & Takeaway Awards.

The awards are a celebration of Turkish cuisine across the country, with 16 awards available, including specialised regional awards for London, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, as well as awards for best delivery, best chef and customer satisfaction.

In the Best Takeaway Regional category, Shaho’s Kebab on Staveley Road in Wolverhampton was shortlisted, going up against takeaways in Newcastle, Portsmouth and Liverpool.

Two restaurants were shortlisted for the Best Turkish Restaurant Regional category, with award nomination regular Meze Turkish Mediterranean & Grill in Cannock and Mount Nemrut Turkish Restaurant in Smethwick both on the list.

Finally, Anatolia Grill Restaurant in Stourbridge was shortlisted for the Best Value Restaurant category.

A spokesman for the Turta Turkish Restaurant & Takeaway Awards said: "The wait is over and the semi-finalists for the 3rd Turta Turkish Restaurant & Takeaway Awards have officially been announced. 

"This prestigious event, celebrating the very best of Turkish cuisine across the UK, will take place on Monday, November 3 at the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane.

"The Turta Awards have grown into one of the most anticipated events in the UK’s hospitality calendar, showcasing the restaurants, cafés, and takeaways that bring Turkish flavours to communities nationwide. 

"This year’s semi-finalists highlight not only culinary excellence but also the cultural and economic contribution of the Turkish food industry to Britain.

"The awards celebrate establishments that embody quality, creativity, and community spirit, values that have made Turkish cuisine one of the UK’s fastest-growing and most beloved dining sectors.
