Sadness as one of Dudley Zoo's new painted dogs dies a month after arriving
One of Dudley Zoo & Castle's new African painted dogs has died.
Alice the painted dog arrived at the zoo in Dudley just over a month ago from Germany with her daughter Isabel to form the attraction's first breeding pack with males Walter and Bruce.

The four dogs had "integrated well" but eight-year-old Alice received veterinary care for "underlying health conditions", a spokesperson for the attraction said.
Her condition deteriorated in recent days and on Tuesday evening (July 15) Alice suddenly become unresponsive in her den.
A statement from Dudley Zoo explained: " With [Alice's] welfare remaining our top priority and following consultations with the veterinary team, keepers made the kindest decision to put her to sleep.
"The loss of any animal on site is always difficult for staff, no matter how long they have been in our care for.
"Our dedicated carnivore team will continue closely monitoring the remaining dogs as they readjust to their new pack hierarchy."
It follows the death earlier this month of a popular chimpanzee at Dudley Zoo & Castle.
Keepers arrived at the chimpanzee enclosure last week to find Barbie, a 47-year-old female chimp, had died overnight.
