The popular attraction has been closed since early November due to the national lockdown.

With the Dudley borough being placed into the Tier 3 restrictions, the museum is able to open its doors for outdoor visits only.

The Black Country Museum will be open between 10am and 4pm on the weekends of Saturday, December 12, and Sunday, December 13, and Saturday, December 19, and Sunday December 20; as well as between Monday, December 21, and Wednesday, December 23.

More Covid-19 coverage:

The museum will be decorated for Christmas and visitors will be allowed to explore the outdoor 26-acre site. Takeaway food and drink, including the famous Hobbs Fish & Chip Shop, will be available. The gift shop will also be open.

A spokesman for the Black Country Museum said: "We are here to support the health and wellbeing of our community in December during what is often a very busy time of year for people. So we are making the outdoor areas of the museum available as a place of respite and relaxation in the run-up to Christmas.

"Join us on key dates in December for an outdoor-only visit and safely explore our 26-acre site.

"Tier 3 restrictions do mean that we won’t be able to operate as ‘business as usual’ – so all of our historic buildings, including the Bottle & Glass Inn, will remain closed and our costumed characters won’t be available to meet you in their usual way. However, we will still have our friendly staff on-hand to answer your questions and help you to make the most of your visit.

"And, as a special pre-Christmas thank you to our community, parking on the museum car park for visitors on outdoor-only days will be free too."

Tickets will cost £5 for adults, while children aged 15 and under can enter for free. Tickets and timeslots must be pre-booked in advance.
