23 spectacular photos showing colourful costumes and big stars as comics and films celebrated at Birmingham Comic Con

It was a weekend of fantastic costumes, big stars and a celebration of comic books, films, collecting and geek culture as a popular Comic Con returned.

The MCM Birmingham Comic Con brought thousands of people to the NEC in Birmingham from Friday, November 28 to Sunday, November 30 to enjoy a show packed with all things anime, film, tv and gaming.

The event was a chance for people to look at rare collectibles, dress up in their favourite character's costume, play games, buy comics and books and other collectible items and immerse themselves in a weekend of geek culture.

There were also appearances from stars of Science Fiction and big movies, with former Doctor Who Sylvester McCoy and X-Men star James McAvoy among those taking to the stage to talk about their works and answer fan questions.

With a wide range of costumes from Star Wars, Doctor Who, Star Trek and other popular TV and film series, it was an explosion of dynamic colour and fun for everyone.
